FEMA preps to setup headquarters in Moss Point
As President Biden appoints federal aid to Moss Point from the mid-June tornado, Mayor Billy Knight and his citizens prepare for the roll-out of resources.
The government agency is beginning coordination to establish headquarters to closely assess and assist the devastation.
FEMA assistance includes grants for temporary housing, home repairs, low-cost loans to cover uninsured property losses, and more. Business owners affected also apply.
Mayor Knight details the steps ahead as FEMA enters to begin allocating resources to help assist the rebuild in Moss Point. “We’re waiting for FEMA to come into our city and we’re trying to decide what location they are going to have. They’ll come in tomorrow and evaluate the building we have which is the downtown Rec Center. If they approve that site, then we will start telling people when they will come in. So, we are hoping it’s going to be Wednesday or Thursday, they should be able to start coming in, making applications to get funding to build their home back.”
