Felony child abuse arrest

In Saucier, a woman is facing felony child abuse charges after she was reportedly found smothering her infant daughter.

According to Harrison County Sheriff Troy Peterson, 23-year-old Simona Somers was found in her room with a thick blanket wrapped around her nine-week-old infant, attempting to smother her.

AMR determined the child did not suffer any obvious injuries.

Somers was arrested on a charge of felonious child abuse and was taken to the Harrison County Jail.
