Feeding the Gulf Coast ranked top 2 nationwide by 24/7 Wall Street
A Gulfport food bank is being recognized as one of the top organizations in the country.
Feeding the Gulf Coast now holds the number two ranking in the nation’s top 40 food banks after being evaluated by “24/7 Wall Street.”
The food bank has more than 800 partners helping the organization fight hunger and has assisted in the distribution of more than 29 million meals to those in need.
With inflation causing some challenges, Michael Ledger, CEO and President of Feeding the Gulf Coast, stopped by WXXV to explain why the help is essential in carrying out the mission. “We couldn’t do this without those 800 partners. It would just be impossible, not to mention the over a quarter million hours in volunteerism we have. Folks that come out to our food bank sort food, folks that are out at mobile pantries, all manners of volunteerism that we have wouldn’t be possible without their support.”
Feeding the Gulf Coast also received a 100 percent charity navigator score with 97 cents of every dollar going directly to programs.
