Federal judge blocks Mississippi abortion law
Governor Phil Bryant is not happy about a federal judge’s decision to temporarily block a state law banning abortion after 15 weeks, the most restrictive abortion law in the United States.
Bryant signed the law Monday and it took effect immediately. The state’s only abortion clinic quickly sued. Today, U.S. District Judge Carlton Reeves put a temporary restraining order on the law Tuesday. Bryant calls Reeves’ ruling “disappointing.”
Bryant says the law is designed to “make Mississippi the safest place in America for an unborn child.”
