FDA recalls dog food for risk of salmonella contamination

The U.S. Food and Drug Administration is alerting pet owners to a recall of Retriever brand dog food due to potential salmonella contamination.

The voluntary recall covers TFP Nutrition’s Retriever All Life Stages Mini Chunk Chicken recipe dry dog food.

TFP Nutrition announced the recall on Saturday. The affected product was produced on October 4th and 5th of this year and distributed in Arkansas, Arizona, California, Louisiana, Mississippi, New Mexico, Neveda, Oklahoma, Texas, and Utah.

The second line of the date code reads ‘3277 TFP’ or ‘3278 TFP.’

There is a risk to humans, especially if pet owners don’t thoroughly wash their hands after touching the product.

Dogs with salmonella infections may be lethargic and have decreased appetite, fever, diarrhea, and vomiting.
