Favre’s Number Retired in Green Bay
If you were passed out from Thanksgiving dinner early last night, you may have missed what was a number retirement ceremony to remember.
At halftime of the Bears-Packers game, the team revealed Kiln native Brett Favre’s retired No. 4 in their Ring of Honor on the stadium’s north façade. Hall of Fame Quarterback Bart Starr, now 81-years-old, and several of Favre’s former teammates were on hand for the ceremony.
During Favre’s 16 years with the Packers, he won seven division titles, three league MVP’s, and the 1996 Super Bowl. “It is Thanksgiving and we have a lot to be thankful for. As I think back to our time here in Green Bay, I certainly thank God for the opportunity to play the game I love so much and to play it for such a long time and in the best place to play football in the world,” said Favre.
The 46-year-old was also honored there in July when he was inducted into the team’s Hall of Fame. Favre is also a candidate for the Pro Football Hall of Fame Class of 2016.
