Fatal shooting in Moss Point

On Sunday, September 4, 2022, at approximately 11:15pm, officers responded to a report of a shooting in the 4100 block of Molden Street in west Moss Point.
Upon arrival, officers found Kevin Larae Hardiman, 37, of Pascagoula, on the ground next to a residence. He was unresponsive and suffering from gunshot wounds. Paramedics arrived at the scene and pronounced him deceased.
Detectives arrived and quickly identified the suspect as David Brennen Mitchell, 36, also of Pascagoula. While detectives were interviewing witnesses Mr. Mitchell turned himself in at the police station.
Mitchell was charged with First Degree Murder and he was transported to the Jackson County ADC. His bond was set by Judge Keith Miller at $250,000.
The preliminary investigation has not yet determined a motive for the shooting.
