Fatal Car Crash in Jackson County
Less than 24 hours after the tragic car accident that killed 48-year-old Millicent Sue Smith, mourners have placed flowers and balloons at the site of the crash.
Officials say the man who is suspected of stealing the car is her son, 24-year-old Marshall Smith. He crashed into a tree on Quave Road in St. Martin on Thursday night after recently being released from prison.
Jackson County Sheriff Mike Ezell said, “Now, we have a tragedy here with actually his mother being killed. So, with that said, you know, Jackson County is investigating the accident. We’ve not completed the investigation yet but we’ve been working on it all day.”
Officials say Marshall Smith is being treated at the hospital for non-life threatening injuries.
