Farmers Market Week is August 7th through the 13th
Next week marks National Farmers Market Week, a great opportunity to show market vendors how much we value the items they sell in our communities.
Seeing the benefits of organic produce, the U.S. Department of Agriculture proclaimed the first National Farmers Market Week in 1999.
It is a great time to educate children on the importance of farmers markets, shop at a local farmers market, and even try growing your own produce.
There are several farmers markets along the Coast. Biloxi’s Community Market has been providing area residents with fresh produce, plants, crafts, and homemade goodies now for more than 45 years. Biloxi Community Market Vendor Laly Libre said, “It’s important because you can get fresh fruit. You got the importance of the plants here. We are like a family more than people just selling something, we are united here. People can see that and it is important to have that here.”
Biloxi’s Community Market is open each Tuesday and Thursday from 6 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Howard Avenue under the I-110 overpass.
