Fans come out in Wiggins for a Mississippi Seawolves meet and greet

There was a whole lot of howling under the solar eclipse in Stone County as the Mississippi Seawolves took over downtown Wiggins.

The City of Wiggins hosted a meet and greet autograph signing with the Mississippi Seawolves. It was a chance for the Seawolves to expand their reach while getting up close and personal with their supporters. Head Coach Joe Pace said, “There’s a lot of Seawolves fans up here and we’re just happy to be hanging out with them today and it’s beautiful outside.”

One fan who recently moved to the Mississippi Gulf Coast says he’s very excited. Seawolves Fan Drake Helton said, “I just moved down here from Montana and I used to play hockey and I’m very excited to root for this new team.”

Guests also helped themselves to free wagyu burgers from Staigles Steakhouse, free handcrafted Seawolves beverages from Southern Turnings Coffee Hut. The meet and greet also included a raffle giveaway and live music.

Steve Diagle, the owner of Staigles Steakhouse, says this event wouldn’t have been possible without the help of fellow businesses on Pine Avenue. “Come out here in Pine Hills. We’ve got seven businesses that got involved, to put this on and I think it’s a great community outreach not only for the community here in Wiggins, but also for the Seawolves”

With business coming together to support one another on Pine Avenue, Post on Pine Irish Pub owner Latrica Mimbs says this is a part of the resurgence going on in Wiggins. “We have Wiggins on the grow right now. We’re going to build this downtown area to where we have something to do every weekend, somewhere to be, a reason to stay in Stone County.”

Coach Pace said, “I didn’t even know this little downtown was here so Pine Street is like my new hangout, this is too cool. Can’t wait to come back here and enjoy a beer at the pub and a steak at Staigles.”

The Mississippi Seawolves kick off their season November 18th at home versus Columbus River Dragons.
