Families of fallen Bay St. Louis officers gifted with items in their honor

It was an emotional day today for the families of the officers who died in the line of duty in Bay St. Louis.

The families of Sgt. Steven Robin and Officer Branden Estorffe were given personalized plaques that had a wooden cut out picture of both men along with an account of their story so they will never be forgotten.

Duplicates of the plaques were also presented to the Bay St. Louis Police Department to hang in their new building.

The American Police Hall of Fame and Museum in Titusville, Florida honored the officers for their ultimate sacrifice by gifting the families with a Medal of Honor. Sgt. Robin’s honorary daughter Tessa Delsied said, “It really is nice to be honored. It’s nice that no one is going to forget about him. That his name is getting put everywhere.”

Ian Estorffe said, “The community has done an amazing, amazing job helping us through this ordeal. The amount of support we’ve received all over the world, especially from the community here on the Gulf Coast, has made it bearable.”

The families were able to view the memorial the city erected in honor of the officers. It was a bittersweet way for Sgt. Robin’s loved ones to celebrate on his birthday.
