Families enjoy the Tree Lighting with Santa in Ocean Springs

Tonight, the City of Ocean Springs hosted their Christmas tree lighting.

The grounds of the Mary C. were packed as families enjoyed some holiday fun during the tree lighting with Santa.

The city hit the switch on two trees in the Mary C’s courtyard.

Families listened to Christmas jingles, said hello to Santa, and enjoyed  other Christmas-inspired crafts and goodies.

We spoke to a few people who shared what they enjoyed the most about the celebration.  Ocean Springs resident Jeannie Bright said, “The children at the picnic tables writing letters to Santa. I think that’s just adorable.”

Christmas light designer Morgan Welch said, “It looks like it had a great turnout. I’m really glad everybody was able to come out and see this thing. It was a lot of fun.”

Cynthia Sutton with Ocean Springs Chamber of Commerce said, “It’s just a great community event during a time of year that makes everyone happy.”

The Tree Lighting with Santa is a community tradition that’s been going on for years.

The city’s next holiday event is the Discover Christmas Parade Sunday at 2 p.m. If you go, don’t forget to bring a toy to donate to a child in need.
