Fallen Oak Collegiate Invitational takes place this weekend
Mississippi’s collegiate golf teams along with programs from across the country and even our WXXV sports team members hit the links today to prove their status as the country’s premier programs.
The premiere collegiate invitational tournament features the nation’s top golf programs at Mississippi’s top course.
Whether you are a cowbell ringing Mississippi State Bulldog, an LSU Tiger, or a Southern Miss Golden Eagle singing ‘to the top’ all are invited and encouraged to cheer on their team.
Each university is competing for the team championship during the 54-hole event with five players playing and four low scores counting each day. LSU Head Golf Coach James Amos said, “It’s my first time here, and it’s been really nice. The support has been incredible. Our guys are playing with some cool and interested people. It’s a good experience to them, I’m just looking forward to the week.”
MS Gulf Resort Classic Foundation President Billy Thornton said, “We are so excited to put this tournament on. This is a chance to showcase collegiate golf. We have 13 universities from around the country, we’ve got 5 of the top 20 teams here from around the country. This is an opportunity to give back to the community.”
This event is free and open to the public Saturday, October 19th through Monday, October 21st.
