Façade grant applications open in Ocean Springs
OCEAN SPRINGS, Miss. (WXXV)- In partnership with the Mississippi Power Foundation, the Ocean Springs Chamber of Commerce Main Street Tourism Bureau is bringing back the Façade Grant Improvement Program.
The program is designed to support the revitalization and growth of existing commercial properties in Downtown Ocean Springs – from Ocean Springs Road to Front Beach and throughout the Main Street District.
Business owners in the approved area can apply for funding to restore, improve or add architectural features to their building facades, helping to enhance the charm and visual appeal of the downtown area. One business owner shares with us how beneficial this beautification grant has impacted the downtown area.
Kacie Marvin, the owner of Spice & Tea Merchants, says, “so my neighbors all got kind of a facelift from outside of their building. A lot of people have had their buildings painted, they got new murals done, they done some like outdoor furniture, and some people have even redone banisters on stairs to make it more safe for people.”
Brandie St. Cyr, the owner of Clary & Sage Apothecary & Healing, says if she is approved for the grant, it would grow her online presence.” Being able to have access to funds where you can do something a little extra is really really neat because you can do something really unique that highlights your business that only your business can do. Like doing a mural where people can take pictures in front of it and be able to tag your business and that’s free marketing so who doesn’t love that.”
