Extra Table food pantry holds March of the Mayors food drive
Today officially kicked off the March of the Mayors Campaign. Extra Table’s March of the Mayors is a four week long event, collecting food items to help fight against food insecurity along the Coast.
Hancock Whitney is the Gulf Coast regional sponsor for the 11 mayors who have agreed to participate in the food drive.
Each coastal city is assigned a specific item to collect and the items gathered during the month of March will be directly distributed to their local food pantries and soup kitchens. Extra Table Executive Director Martha Allen said, “It’s just really fun to see the energy across this coast and the leadership is incredible. Just knowing that there are so many hungry in each of our communities that their voices together can help fight for.”
There will be a boxing party at 9:30 a.m. on March 30th at the Lyman Community Center to box up all the items collected.
