Experts in marine science, technology gather in Biloxi for Oceans in Action workshop

BILOXI, Miss. (WXXV) — A marine science and technology research workshop is bringing experts and professionals from across the region to The Coast this week.

Experts in marine science and technology gathered at the Mississippi Coast Convention Center for a three-day Oceans In Action workshop. The workshop is being held to bring those from marine sectors together to collaborate, share their knowledge, and showcase their current projects.

Attending the workshop are scientists and industry – like small and large businesses, all involved in the marine sector. A list of guest speakers are scheduled to take the stage over the three days. Day one kicked off with a panel of experts in what is called Environmental DNA (EDNA).

Chairperson Katharine Weathers says that hosting and attending events such as this is important because it allows those in the marine sector to connect with others and collaborate in ways they may not have been able to otherwise.
