Experienced Cruisers offer tips for Cruisin’ the Coast

Excitement builds for Crusin' the Coast Starting This Weekend

Events leading up to the start of Cruisin’ the Coast begin this weekend and many Cruisers are already in town and getting settled in.

The excitement for Cruisin’ the Coast is practically bubbling over at this point as the lawn at Centennial Plaza will be filled with beautiful antique cars as Coast residents and tourists alike are ready to hit the streets to view the car extravaganza.

Thousands flock to the Coast each year in October for the classic car show. Roger Miller has been a frequent cruiser for the past few years who brings his orange crush 1968 Chevy C-10 truck from Lake Charles, Louisiana. “I’ve been here for six years of Cruisin’ the Coast and enjoy every year that I come. I think, you know, the people enjoy looking at the truck and that’s what makes me smile, I did something right. When I come here and I see over 10,000 cars that’s back in this era. It’s like I’m not even living in this world anymore. It just brings me back in time.”

For navigating the traffic from the blast to the past, Miller’s best advice is: “Biloxi, be honest, is where the heavy traffic is, turn off, and maybe us I-10 and go around, then get back on 90. Because if you don’t need to go anywhere in that area, then just go around. It’s that simple.”

Cruiser Kevin Masters said, “90 is tough. If you want to see the cars, that’s where you come in, you park, you watch the cars and you see millions of dollars’ worth of car.”

As for the places to be for Cruisin’? “I’ll hit Moss Point. I’ll go to Pascagoula. Ocean Springs is awesome. It’s a nice little community. The downtown area, the shade of trees, it’s just nice, real nice.”

“Burn out in Long Beach, also the flame on Tuesday night in Gulfport because they shoot flames 40-50, feet out of those trucks and cars. It don’t cost you nothing. It’s all free. Come on down and see the cars. They’re beautiful.”
