Esteban Toledo speaks to youth

Swinging for success is Pro-Golfer Esteban Toledo’s message to the kids at the Salvation Army Kroc Center’s after school program. Today he taught kids about the importance of their future and a little bit about a back swing.
Normally out swinging on the green against other pro-golfers, instead Esteban Toledo teaches kids to concentrate on their swing on life. Ten-year-old Carlos Santiago says it was exciting meeting his first pro-golfer and taking home some valuable advice. “I actually learned to just have fun and be yourself.”
Teaching kids about concentration with golf is one thing, but Toledo is also teaching them about the importance of their future and how vital it is to stay on track on and off the golf course. “It’s important to have fun. It’s important to have dreams and goals because if you don’t teach them at home or anywhere else, they have to know they’re so little, they’re so innocent that they need to go out there and have to understand what life is coming and I think going to school and finishing school, they prepare themselves to be successful someday,” said Toledo.
Growing up in Mexico with nothing and no money, Toledo explains that he’s able to show kids that following your dreams will lead to success and hard work goes a long way. “You got to teach them. You got to learn how to work. You got to learn how to get the discipline, the determination to go out there and be successful and if nobody can do that, it’s tough. Those kids learn. Hopefully today they learned not to give up on their dreams.”
