Eric Collins leaving D’Iberville for Bay High
You could say Eric Collins has a calling when it comes to his coaching expertise.
Collins is leaving a 6A football program to take over as the head man at a 4A school who has just three wins in the past three seasons to which Collins says ‘challenged accepted’.
First reported by the Sun Herald, the third-year head coach at D’Iberville will take over the rebuilding effort at Bay High. Collins is set to replace Benji Foreman following his three year stint with the Tigers, culminating with Foreman’s resignation in November.
Now there’s precedent already in place for Collins who took over a winless Pearl River Central team in 2010 and compiled a winning record during that six-year run.
Collins says his last day at D’Iberville is Wednesday and that he’ll be over in the Bay starting in January. He also tells News 25 he couldn’t be more thankful for his opportunity at D’Iberville and says he’s excited for the challenge of turning around a struggling program.
Collins lead the Warriors to a region 4 title in 2016.
