EPA Administrator Scott Pruitt resigns

President Donald Trump tweeted today he has accepted the resignation of Scott Pruitt, administrator of the Environmental Protection Agency.

Pruitt has faced an array of ethical questions about his travel spending, security costs, and misuse of government resources. Pruitt denies any wrongdoing.

Trumps says the Senate confirmed Andrew Wheeler, current EPA deputy director, as acting administrator. He will assume duties on Monday.

The president says “I have no doubt that Andy will continue on with our great and lasting EPA agenda. We have made tremendous progress and the future of the EPA is very bright.”
