Environmentalists file lawsuit against Oscar Renda

Is the East Biloxi road work polluting the Back Bay?
The Gulf Restoration Network has filed a lawsuit against Biloxi contractor Oscar Renda. According to the lawsuit, Oscar Renda Contracting is in violation of the Clean Water Act and the environmental organization claims the contractor isn’t doing their part to prevent polluted dirt from falling into Biloxi’s Back Bay.
The lawsuit was filed April 27th after almost 90 percent of the water lines, sewer lines, and the storm drains have been installed. City of Biloxi Public Affairs Manager Vincent Creel said, “The City of Biloxi has sent a letter to Oscar Renda reminding them of the different parts of the contract that they’re supposed to be abiding by. One of them had to do with some of these environmental issues and we’re expecting them to please bring these things into full compliance if they’re not already.”
Although the City of Biloxi is not included in the lawsuit, city officials tell News 25 they do agree the environmental issues mentioned in the lawsuit are very important and should be addressed.
