Entrepreneurial pitch competition discussed at networking event hosted by Gulf Blue Networking
An upcoming entrepreneurial pitch competition was discussed at a networking event in Gulfport on Wednesday along with a few other topics for entrepreneurs.
The event was hosted by Gulf Blue Networking and was intended to provide a supportive ecosystem of resources, in addition to funding opportunities, to help local entrepreneurs and investors move Mississippi forward.
“Providing a supportive network like that here on the coast is I think where your successful startups are gonna grow. If we don’t provide that their gonna go elsewhere. So, we really wanna make sure that they’ve got that networking, they understand who to call if they’ve got a question or problem to solve and that we can do that for them.”
During Wednesday’s event attendees connected, heard about funding opportunities from angel investors and learned about the upcoming Mississippi Gulf Coast Regional Pitch Competition which will be held on May 31st.
“It’s basically Shark Tank but its run through Innovate Mississippi. So, they have a program called CoBuilders and if you want to be a part of the CoBuilders Accelerator then you have to participate in one of these 8 regional pitch competitions. They get together, people will pitch in my competition, Innovate (Mississippi) sees all these people, they review everybody who applies. Whether you win or not, if Innovate likes you, you might get an invitation.”
Registration for the competition is currently open but if you’d like to sign up to pitch your ideals, you better hurry. Registration ends on April 26th.
“They can go to my Facebook page, that’s probably the easiest way to find the application. I have an event. Click on that, click through the application. It’s a quick Google form. It’ll take you maybe 20 minutes, most of the information you have on the top of your head if you’ve been running your business for a while or God knows you’ve probably been thinking about it long enough.
