Endangered turtles rehabbed by MS Aquarium released into the MS Sound

The Mississippi Aquarium released nine turtles into the Mississippi Sound.

These sea turtles were sent from New England Aquarium in Boston and were brought to the Mississippi Coast.

Kemp’s Ridley Sea turtles are critically endangered and the smallest of all sea turtles. They are also susceptible to cold shock.

After rehabilitation, these nine turtles were ready to go home. Dr. Alexa Delaune said, “It feels really great to release these animals back into the Sound because they’re very endangered, so each individual is very important for this species to continue.”
