Emmett Till’s family members rally outside DA’s Office demanding justice
Family members of Emmett Till and supporters rallied outside the LeFlore County DA’s Office demanding justice for the kidnapping and murder of Till.
They met on the steps of the Greenwood Courthouse, demanding that prosecutor DeWayne Richardson reopen the case.
Priscilla Sterling, cousin to Emmett Till, calls out Governor Tate Reeves, noting that he has yet to speak on the family’s efforts to bring the alleged suspect, Carolyn Bryant, to justice.
Family members note that they will continue to seek the arrest and prosecution of Bryant as they asked them to fight for justice for wrongful kidnapping and murder of Emmett Till. “Well, we want her to go to trial and tell the truth, because when I was a young girl, 16 and 17-year-old, I would spend my summers in Chicago, and Mamie and I would have breakfast every morning and she would tell me, Lauren, Bo didn’t do that. Bo was a good son.”
“If you had a warrant, they would come and get you no matter what. Medgar Evers got justice why shouldn’t Emmett Till get justice?””
The Emmett Till Justice for Families Foundation is planning a nation-wide justice event that will be in Jackson, Mississippi on August 28th.
