Emergency Operation Plans Luncheon
Pastors and priests who attended a disaster training luncheon now know more about what to do in an emergency in their place of worship.
Local firefighters, police officers and pastors gathered in the Regions Banquet Room in the Knight Foundation Nonprofit Center at noon in Gulfport. Speakers talked plans for weather related disasters, environmental disasters and what to do in an active-shooter situation.
Education Economics Environmental Climate and Health Origination, or EEECHO, partnered with FEMA and other groups to put the event together. EEECHO executive director Ruth Story said, “It’s important that our people understand that we’d be prepared early, we know where we’re going, we know how we’re getting there.”
Story tells News 25 that churches should make sure they have a definite plan. The organization will be helping train churches for emergency situations around the Gulf Coast.
