Electric Vehicle Charging Station Installed in Downtown Biloxi

In an effort to go green, more people are turning to electric cars to protect the environment and save some extra cash. According to Fortune.com, electric car sales have increased by 27 percent in 2014.
Coast Transit Authority installed an electric vehicle charging station right in Biloxi’s downtown.
Judy Guice bought a new electric car in February and struggled to find a charger on the Coast. “After I bought the electric vehicle, I was obviously a little concerned about how I’d keep it charged because it has no gas tank whatsoever and I was told there were no public charging stations on the coast.”
CTA installed a charging station right in downtown Biloxi just for people like Guice who own electric vehicles. Thanks to a federal stimulus grant, Biloxi now has a new outlet for local drivers who need to plug in. While the numbers of cars that cruise the coast on gas far outnumber their electric counterparts, city leaders are looking to the future. Kevin Coggin, CTA executive director, said, “They haven’t caught on until recently in our community but that’s a service that we put in for the public in anticipation of a need.”
The charging station is located just behind CTA’S Biloxi transit center on the corner of Reynoir Street and Esters Boulevard.
The electric charging station is free to use.
