UPDATE: St. Pe’ wins Court of Appeals District 5 runoff

Amy St. Pe’ has been declared the winner of the Court of Appeals District 5 runoff election by the Associated Press.

With 97 percent of the vote reporting across the district, the vote totals are as follows:

Amy St. Pe’ : 18,067 votes (62%)

Jennifer Schloegel: 11,143 votes (38%)

St. Pe’ will serve the District 5, Place 2 position on the Appeals Court for Mississippi. The 10-member court serves 8-year, staggered terms. St. Pe’ succeeds former District Attorney Joel Smith, who did not seek re-election.

The women advanced to Tuesday’s runoff  after a three-way race in the November 5th general election with Ian Baker.
