Election Day Reminders

The General Election is November 5th. Here are a few reminders to keep in mind as you head to the polls.

Polls will be open from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. on Tuesday. If you are still waiting in line to vote at 7 p.m., don’t leave. You are legally entitled to cast your ballot. You are prohibited from taking pictures of your marked ballot.

If you are unsure of where to vote, you can find your polling place location on the ‘My Election Day’ portal, or contact your county circuit clerk’s office or local election commissioners.

A valid photo ID is required to cast your vote, such as a driver’s license, passport, military ID card, or a student photo ID card issued by a state college or university.  Click here for a full list of acceptable IDs.

If you do not have an ID with you when voting, you are entitled to cast an affidavit ballot.  For the voter ID affidavit ballot to count, you must bring an acceptable form of photo ID to your circuit clerk’s offices by November 13th.

Another deadline to keep in mind: mail in absentee ballots must be postmarked by November 5th and received by county circuit clerk’s offices no later than November 13th.

When it comes to campaigning for a candidate, you are not allowed to campaign within 150 feet of any entrance to a polling place, unless on private property.

Polls must also be clear for 30 feet from every entrance unless you are an elected official, poll worker, or a voter waiting in line to vote.
