Election 2020: Live Results for South Mississippi and the U.S. General Election

Presidential Election:

President Donald Trump has won the state of Mississippi, according to the Associated Press. The race was called just moment after polls closed in the Magnolia State at 7:00 p.m. Tuesday.

The Associated Press has not declared a winner in the presidential race. There are still hundreds of thousands of votes left to be counted, many of which are in key battleground states.

U.S. Senate Race:

Republican Cindy Hyde-Smith defeats Democrat Mike Espy in the Senate race in Mississippi.

New Mississippi State Flag Design:
Mississippi residents voted yes on the new “In God We Trust” state flag design. The Associated Press says that 69.7% of residents voted yes on the new flag design.

Mississippi Statewide Measure 2:
Mississippi resident have voted yes on Statewide Measure 2. This amendment provides that to be elected governor or to any other statewide office, a candidate must receive a majority of the votes in the general election.
If no candidate receives a majority of the votes, then a runoff election shall be held as provided by general law. The requirement of receiving the most votes in a majority of Mississippi House of Representative’s district is removed. Associated Press reports that 77.55% of residents voted “yes.”

Mississippians have voted in favor of legalizing medical marijuana, opting for the less restrictive of two proposals on this year’s ballot.

With 53 of 53 precincts reporting
Anna Marie Gines: 3,179 votes
Toni Jo Kuljis-Diaz: 6,255 votes

School Board District 5:
With 53 of 53 precincts reporting:
Aldon Helmert: 2330 votes
Eric Simmons: 3961 votes

Special Election for Harrison County Tax Collector
With 53 of 53 precincts reporting:
Jennifer Adams: 6691 votes
Sharon Barnett: 23046 votes
Scottie Cuevas: 7687 votes
Sheena Khalifeh: 4084 votes
Connie Rocko: 15407 votes

JACKSON COUNTY:

Election Commissioner for District 5:
Six out of six precincts reporting:
Deborah Parker: 79.02%
Tamara Vidrine: 19.71%
