Eighth grade teacher at Bayou View Middle School tests positive for COVID-19

WXXV has learned an 8th grade teacher at Bayou View Middle School in Gulfport has tested positive for coronavirus.

Parents were called today and told to monitor their children for symptoms for 3 to 5 days.

A Gulfport School District official tells News 25 none of the students have been sent home and at this time no student has shown any symptoms of coronavirus.

The teacher who tested positive for coronavirus taught at the front of the class and students wore masks.

The school official says all protocols have been followed.
