Eight people detained in Louisiana as part of Gulfport investigation at Grace Temple Baptist Church

Gonzales Police have arrested eight people as part of the investigation into a victim being shot near Grace Temple Baptist Church on Thursday.

Gulfport investigators headed to Gonzales to assist in the investigation there.

The department said in a press release that it was contacted by Gulfport Police about 5 p.m. regarding an active manhunt regarding a home invasion and shooting of a law enforcement officer in Vicksburg, as well as other home burglaries in Gulfport.

Warrants for two suspects were issued as a result of the Gulfport investigation and a possible location for the suspects was identified as Caroline Street in Gonzales. Officers who responded to the residence found one of the described vehicles parked there. Suspects were seen getting into vehicles parked at the residents and police attempted a traffic stop that led to a pursuit before suspects were arrested at the intersection of Louisiana 44 and Louisiana 42.
