Eddie Lofton to become next Biloxi athletic director
There’s soon to be a changing of the guard at Biloxi High School where Head Baseball Coach Eddie Lofton will now be wearing a new hat.
Today, the school announced Loftin as the next athletic director, serving as the successor to Tom Gladney, who is retiring after 13 years, to move to Houston, Texas to spend more time with his granddaughter.
He’ll be stepping away on June 30th at which point Lofton will take over on July 1st.
Lofton only had one losing season since taking over the baseball program in 2015 and started serving in the capacity of assistant AD last year.
He says the same mentality he brings to the diamond day in and day out still applies just the same to his new role. “I can’t say enough about the fact that our school board and Mr. Boudreaux – our superintendent – has entrusted me to be able to take on this role and kind of just do everything that I can – every job I’ve ever gone into, and this is my fourth head baseball coaching position, and I feel like every time a baseball position, it was better than when I got there, and that’s my ultimate goal for this is to make sure that I do everything I can and within my power to kind of keep it going in the right direction and make it better than before.”
Coach Lofton says his job is to make not only baseball but every single sport the best that he can make it for Biloxi High School.
