Economic Injury Disaster Loans

The blue-green algae bloom devastated businesses across the Gulf Coast, especially local fishermen. There is help on the way.

Today, the Small Business Administration met with members of the fishing community to provide a workshop on available disaster loans.

Those affected by the blue-green algae bloom are eligible for up to $25,0000 in disaster assistance loans with no collateral. Ryan Bradley with Mississippi Commercial Fisheries United said, “The whole Coast community took a big hit last year during the Bonnet Carre Spillway. So, it has had a tremendous ripple effect for our local economy and these disaster loans will provide a chance for Coast communities and hopefully we can get the train back rolling South Mississippi.”

The deadline for filing this application is October 16th, 2020. You can go online to disasterloan.SBA.gov for more information.
