Easter celebrations and COVID-19

All around the world, Easter preparations are underway as Resurrection Day is just around the corner.

COVID-19’s drastic impact on every holiday in the last year has changed the way people gather and celebrate.

Church services on Easter are no exception. However, many local churches will open their doors to in-person services and provide an online worship option come April 4th.

Those attending church in person at First Baptist Church Gulfport, health and safety protocols will be in place and masks are encouraged.

Pastor Eric Smith says given the last year celebrating Easter is extra special in 2021. “It really has been a difficult year for people. We just ask people to embrace that knowledge. It’s not business as usual and I don’t know if it will be again, but we think it’s pretty amazing that things are just starting to open up again as Easter Sunday is on the horizon. Easter Sunday is really the Super Bowl Sunday for followers of Christ.”
