East North Gulfport Park ribbon cutting
This morning in North Gulfport, community leaders and city officials came together for a special ribbon cutting.
The East North Gulfport Park is now a hub for residents to gather and promote togetherness and fellowship in the community. There are more than 180 kids living in the surrounding area. Now, thanks to over $300,000 worth of updates, this space is equipped with a playground and multiple pavilions, making it perfect for community and family events for the first time since Hurricane Katrina.
Gulfport City Councilmember Ella Holmes Hines said, “When you combine an area of green space that’s going to have parties and reunions, you become a community family and that’s what we are hoping that will happen and that’s what this community always needed is to get back to a resemblance of what I know as a child, that we knew everybody in the street of the neighborhood and we could go to anyone and we’re hoping this is what this park will give is that unity once again.”
The park is open to the public and is located at the corner of Florida Avenue and Martin Luther King Boulevard.
