East Central High School names Stephen Garrard as new Head Baseball Coach
One week ago we were at East Central high school reflecting on the long and successful career of Bo Long. We’re back in hurley once again as East Central athletics announces Stephen Garrard as the new head baseball coach!
Coach Garrard is no stranger to East Central high school, now entering his 15th season on the diamond with the Hornets. The longtime assistant says he’s ready to take on this new role and he looks forward to helping athletes grow beyond the game of baseball.
“It’s always exciting to start something new. It’s one of those things where God calls us to do more, so it’s neat being the doer and not just sitting back in the background,” said Garrard. “I’ve never lived far away, just across the Alabama line. My brother went to Moss Point and we’ve always been a part of the community. We used to hunt and fish all around here, so it’s home, and being able to stay here and continue my career here as a head coach is really unbelievable. Why we do it is to help guys grow. We talk about creating men of character, and I think we’ve done a phenomenal job here as far as helping guys continue their careers and to want to better themselves as not just ball players, but as men.
Congratulations to new head Coach Stephen Garrard, and we cannot wait to continue covering the success of East Central baseball!
