East Central high school baseball receives state championship rings
The East Central high school Hornets baseball team received their 5A state championship rings on Monday for the 2022-23 season.
The Hornets finished the season with a 28-11 win/loss record, including 8-1 in region play.
This is East Central’s second state championship in as many years. At the Ceremony head coach Bo Long spoke on what his team was able to accomplish.
“It is so cool,” he said. “It’s the pinnacle, of course, of a high school baseball coach. Especially to do it in the classification that we did it in. 5A baseball in Mississippi, top to bottom, is tough. It’s deep, baseball rich, classification so we are really blessed to have done what we did.”
Coach Long says while back-to-back championships are a blessing he is always looking forward to the opportunity to win another.
