East Central girls soccer eyeing breakthrough state title

HURLEY, Miss. (WXXV) — The East Central Lady Hornets have put together a season to remember.

After finishing the year with 16 wins and a district title, East Central went on a tear through the playoffs. The team picked up victories over North Pike, South Jones and Northeast Jones. The Lady Hornets have been especially strong defensively, with just one goal given up in the playoffs.

After years of coming close, this East Central team feels more connected than ever, and players believe that this is their time to finally grab that golden ball.

The Lady Hornets will face Florence for the State Championship at 10 a.m. on Saturday at Germantown High School in Madison.
