Early Risers Roll Out for Parades
Early risers rolled out of bed and onto the streets of Biloxi to set up for today’s Gulf Coast Carnival Association Mardi Gras parade.
Some families made it out as early as 4:30 a.m. to get that perfect spot on the route, where the parade would not be rolling until 1 o’clock this afternoon. One family makes it a necessity every year to set up camp at the corner of Lameuse and Jackson Street simply because it’s been a tradition for generations. Parade-goer Steven Pitalo said, “We always come every year to get the best spot that we can get and just come down and have a good time. Since I was five years old, I’ve been on this corner and we come down every year and we get it.”
The Gulf Coast Carnival Association’s parade in Biloxi rolled at 1, as well as the Krewe of Diamonds in Bay St. Louis. One last Coast parade is set to wrap up Fat Tuesday, the Krewe of Gemini.
