Early Morning Accident in Bay St. Louis
An early morning car accident in Bay St. Louis left one dead and two passengers injured.
The car was traveling eastbound on Avenue B near 10th Street when it ran off the road, hit a utility pole, crashed into a home, and went airborne around 2 a.m. The front steps of the home were destroyed. Broken planks of wood are still laying all over the front yard.
Next door neighbors say the loud boom woke them immediately. At first, they thought it was thunder but soon realized it was serious. “I thought, well, I must be dreaming and I got up but then I laid back down. That’s when I heard the sirens coming, so I knew then that it wasn’t a dream, that I did hear something,” said Debra Gilbert.
The driver, who was ejected from the car, was pronounced dead on the scene. The other two passengers were immediately treated at a local hospital for injuries.
