Eagles Under the Oaks charity golf tournament takes place

Pass Christian, Miss. (WXXV)- The 14th Annual Eagles Under the Oaks Charity Golf Tournament took place in Pass Christian earlier this morning.

The tournament brought together golfers to support the combat wounded veterans of South Mississippi.

Keesler Federal Credit Union raised more than $115,000 for the tournament and has surpassed last year’s fundraising total.

Founder of the combat wounded veterans of South Mississippi Donna Anderson spoke about the event.

“I would like our community to know that our veterans that serve our country, they are very proud people. They don’t like asking for help, this is one of the hardest things they have to do is have to ask people for help. When they’ve served their country both men and women, and supported their families all of this time and then they’ve gotten into a situation where they can’t and it is hard for them to get out and seek help… Things happen to people everyday… If they are injured and these are chronic conditions that take a lot of time and care for healing and everything, they deserve the best.”

All money raised is staying in South Mississippi and benefiting the combat wounded veterans.
