DUI charges following head on collision in Hancock County

A man is charged with DUI causing serious injuries after highway patrol officials say he slammed into a car head on in Hancock County around 3 today.
Mississippi Highway Patrol Spokesman Chase Elkins tells News 25 59-year-old Desmond Coogins was traveling east in the westbound lanes of Highway 90 in Bay St. Louis on Lakeshore Drive when he crashed into a Mercury Mountaineer.
The driver of the mountaineer was transported to the Hancock Medical Center by ambulance. The front passenger and the back right passenger, both females, were flown to USA Medical Center with serious injuries. The back left passenger had no injuries. The front passenger was the only one wearing a seat belt.
Coogins bond is set at $50,000.
