Due South Tattoo Expo
Over the weekend, tattoo artists from far and wide traveled to Biloxi to take part in the third annual Due South Tattoo Expo.
Local artist Matt Stebly is known for his work at Twisted Anchor Tattoo Parlor in Ocean Springs, but Stebly uses the expo as a chance to introduce the people of South Mississippi to some of the biggest names in the tattoo community.
This year’s event hosted over 100 artists, including American artists from as far away as Washington State as well as a few international guests.
Stebly tells News 25 he sees his expo as a win-win for the artist, the fans, and local vendors. “This is a great time, great time for people on the Coast to get tattoos from artists all over the country and the world. I’m just glad people are taking advantage of that.”
Jeff Machielson with Old Biloxi Beard Company said, “You come here and you’re going to get a chance to be exposed to some of the best tattoo artists in the world that you may never have another chance to see again. If you’re a vendor, you’re going to be able to put your product in front of the people from all around the country that may not even know your product exists.”
A special Snapchat filter was also created in honor of this year’s event featuring Stebly’s trademark beard and ball cap.
