Drowning victim recovered near Broadwater Marina

Dive crews recovered a drowning victim who went missing Monday evening near the Broadwater Marina.

Harrison County Coroner confirmed the body was found just after 7 a.m. by Biloxi Police.

Police received a call just before 7 p.m. Monday evening about a person who jumped into the water and never resurfaced.

Police and firefighters deployed divers and rescue boats in an effort to locate the victim, but had to suspend the search because of poor visibility.

Crews returned to the marina early Tuesday morning to resume the search and were able to find the victim just before 7 a.m.

The name of the victim is being withheld pending notification of family. Biloxi Police say foul play is not suspected.
