Driver leads police on pursuit in Jackson and Harrison counties
An Ocean Springs man is behind bars after leading police on a high speed chase across the Coast Sunday afternoon.
Ocean Springs police took report of a stolen vehicle. Minutes later, Jackson County deputies spotted the car and attempted to pull the vehicle over on Washington Avenue. The driver fled and was able to shake police.
Later on in the day, Biloxi police again spotted the vehicle on I-10 and attempted to pull it over. That’s when 20-year-old Percy Thompson failed to stop and led officers on a chase westbound until he got to Gulfport, taking exit 34.
Thompson then drove across the median and traveled northbound in the southbound lanes of Highway 49. He eventually drove into a field off Landon Road and crashed.
Thompson is charged with grand larceny and eluding police.
