Driver Bureau opens at Gulfport-Biloxi International Airport

Today, Gulfport-Biloxi International Airport and the Mississippi Department of Public Safety held a ribbon cutting to launch the opening of a driver bureau at the airport.

With a reserved appointment, the new driver bureau allows Gulf Coast residents and travelers to renew their driver’s license.

Immediately after the ribbon was cut, a line was formed. This new addition gives people an opportunity to reduce wait time along with faster customer service and efficiency.

Beginning May 3rd, 2023, the transportation security administration will require every traveler 18 years and older to have a Real ID compliant driver’s license or another acceptable form of ID to fly within the United States.

Real ID compliant cards are marked with a gold star on the top. Gulfport Biloxi International Airport Executive Director Clay Williams said, “It’s interesting that you cut the ribbon on the new facility and you have individuals waiting to come in and we’re hoping that’s a good indicator it will be a popular offering. We are very pleased to be the first airport in the state of Mississippi to offer a driver’s service bureau location and hopefully with this opportunity and the Department of Public Safety’s efforts they can replicate this across the state. We’re very pleased to partner with the Department of Public Safety and their new office.”
