Driver being air-lifted after single vehicle accident on I-10

A driver involved in a single-vehicle accident on Interstate 10 on Friday afternoon is being air-lifted to a hospital.

Gulfport Police said the incident happened after 1 p.m. when the vehicle left the westbound lanes of I-10 near the 38 mile marker, which is near the Cowan-Lorraine exit, and flipped, landing near the tree line.

The driver is considered critical, which is why a helicopter is being sent in to air-lift him to a hospital.

The westbound lanes are shut down to allow the helicopter to land and transport the driver.
