Drive To Legalize Sports Betting

According to ESPN, five states including Mississippi along with the American Gaming Association have filed amicus briefs with the United States Supreme Court. Urging them to reconsider the sports betting ban. The briefs are in support of New Jersey’s efforts to offer legal sports betting at its casinos and race tracks. After losing a decision to the US Third Circuit Court of appeals in August, New Jersey filed a request to the Supreme Court in October. Currently only a handful of states offer legal sports betting. Nevada is the only state where you can bet on single games and events. The AGA has plans to lobby congress in 2017 to lift the ban on sports betting, something they believe president-elect Donald Trump will support.
