Drive-in theatre officially coming to the Gulf Coast

Movie buffs along the Coast have something to look forward to with a brand-new drive-in movie theatre!

The property, located across the street from the Silver Slipper sign on Highway 90, is currently being cleared.

Once the clearing is completed, the crew will begin construction of phase one which includes a concession stand, arcade, and a 60 foot by 34 foot screen with a 4K digital cinema projector.

Phase one is expected to be completed by this upcoming Mardi Gras season.

Once phase one is complete, construction of phase two will begin, which will add a second screen of the same size to the property.

The theatre will show two newly-released movies per screen. Drive-In Owner John Watzke said, “It’s something totally unique for the area. It’s good affordable family entertainment. It’s different than anything else. I tell people all the time, if you just want to see a movie with a bunch of people you don’t know in a crowded building, a walk-in’s fine. It’s a movie. A drive-in is a memory.”

Tickets will cost $6 for an adult, $3 for children older than five, and free for kids five and under.
