Drew Brees: dual threat quarterback
There’s not a lot Drew Brees hasn’t done during his illustrious 18 year NFL career, at least with his arm.
It’s not very often he gets the chance to show off the legs despite being a tri-sport varsity letterman in high school.
Sunday’s overtime thriller between the Saints and Falcons was an otherwise aerial assault prior to the final two scores of the game. Both of them were Brees touchdown runs, marking the first time since 2009 and just the second time in his entire career he’s twice found the end zone on the ground.
Not the normal day at the office for the future Hall of Famer. “I like that I’m getting touchdown runs confused. Rarely, does this confusion happen. I keep telling my flag football team that spin moves are good and they’re not getting it, they’re not believing me. So I’m glad that happened, because now I have video evidence to show them that hey, spin moves work. Spin moves are good.”
Brees now has 20 rushing touchdowns for his career.
In other Drew Brees news, his right arm is still working just fine, having set a new record Sunday for the most completions in NFL history.
The 39-year-old needed 50 fewer games to break Brett Favre’s previous mark of 6,300.
Pretty fitting that he passed the Ol’ Gunslinger in Atlanta, not only where Favre was drafted, but also the franchise Brees has completed the most passes again.
His all-time favorite target is Marques Colston.
